Polyoxymethylene (POM)

Al Sharq Company for Metals and Industrial Supplies– A High-Performance Engineering Polymer Polyoxymethylene , also known as Acetal or Delrin, is a high-performance thermoplastic engineering polymer characterized by its exceptional mechanical strength, high rigidity, and excellent dimensional stability.

These properties make it one of the best engineering plastics used in precision industrial applications. Polyoxymethylene pom  is highly resistant to wear, friction, and chemical degradation, allowing it to perform efficiently in harsh environments that require materials capable of withstanding high pressure, continuous movement, and dynamic loads without losing its physical properties. Additionally, it has a very low moisture absorption rate, ensuring high stability even in humid conditions.

POM Sheets from El Sharq Company  widely used in engineering applications such as gears, bearings, linear guides, valves, and precision mechanical components, offering low friction, excellent wear resistance, and outstanding mechanical fatigue endurance. It is also easy to process and manufacture, as it can be milled, turned, and cut with high precision without requiring complex procedures. Compared to materials like metals or conventional plastics, Polyoxymethylene  is an ideal choice for engineers and manufacturers seeking a material that combines strength, durability, and lightweight properties, reducing energy consumption while enhancing the efficiency of various mechanical systems.

Properties Polyoxymethylene (POM):

  1.   Polyoxymethylene High mechanical strength and rigidity: Provides excellent load-bearing capacity with high resistance to stress and wear.
  2.  Excellent friction resistance: Suitable for applications requiring smooth sliding and low maintenance, such as Friction Resistant Rolled POM.
  3.  Good chemical resistance: Withstands exposure to various oils, greases, fuels, and moderate chemicals.
  4. Low moisture absorption: Maintains its dimensions and stability in humid environments.
  5.  Good heat resistance: Can operate within a wide temperature range but is not ideal for extremely high-temperature environments.

Applications:

  • Polyoxymethylen ( pom) Mechanical and Engineering Industries – Used in manufacturing gears, bearings, and pulleys due to its high strength and resistance to friction and wear, including Rolled POM for Mechanical Industries.
  •   Automotive Industry – Found in car interior components such as door locks, fuel system parts, and suspension components, offering lightweight durability.
  •  Electrical and Electronics Equipment – Used in insulators, connectors, and cable housings due to its excellent electrical resistance and insulating properties.
  •  Medical and Healthcare Industry – Utilized in medical tools, surgical device components, and pump parts due to its bacteria resistance and ease of sterilization.
  •  Food Processing and Packaging – pom from El Sharq Company  Used in food-contact components such as conveyor parts and packaging machinery, thanks to its high chemical resistance and food safety compliance, often requiring Wear and Heat Resistant POM Sheets.
  • Aerospace Industry – Employed in the production of precise, lightweight components for aircraft and spacecraft due to its mechanical strength and stability in extreme conditions, where Industrial POM Sheets are often preferred.
